Description
The Life Guards (LG) is the most senior regiment of the British Army and part of the Household Cavalry, along with The Blues and Royals.
The tune of "Milanollo" was written by the 19th-century German composer Johann Valentin Hamm for the Italian violinist virtuoso sisters and child prodigies, Teresa and Maria Milanollo. They introduced it to England in 1845 in the course of their extensive European tours. In the 1880s it was officially authorised, along with all regimental marches, by the War Office as a regimental march for the Coldstream Guards.
